How to turn scrap into a fashion piece instantly
03 April
I have a whole lot of small scrap portions of leather and in
this post I’m going to share quick and easy way to create earring from leather-based
scrap.
Supplies:
- Scrap leather-based pieces (Turquoise and black)
- Paper cutter knife
- Rubber based adhesive (you can use Fevibond)
- Earring hooks
Technique:
- Take the black piece and reduce the form as shown in the image (top width: 1.5cm, lower width: 4cm, length: 9cm).
- Before beginning the cut work, mark 2mm allowances every side.
- Now start cutting triangles like shown in the image, keep it
symmetric so that it looks good.
The plus factor of this pattern is you don’t have to worry about matching the other piece of earring.
I know it appears easy however be careful with the cut work because if not properly cut it will leave fibers and look untidy.
- After you complete the cut work apply the rubber based adhesive on the bottom and paste the turquoise leather and hammer it, let it dry.
- Now trim the extra part, maintain the turquoise part
downwards and slightly slant your scissor inwards and start trimming.
If you cut straight you’ll be able to see turquoise edge from front which looks untidy. - Now with the help of a board pin and hammer make a tiny hole and attach the
hook.
And you have a remarkable earring out of the scrap you were going to dispose.
Hope you all like the tutorial. Let me know if you have any
